iv'e practiced Judo since i was 9....yes, that makes me.....29, hahahahaha!!!!
Got all my lovely brothers into Judo in various years along the way. My son Adam has been practicing since he was 4, he's 21...i know your thinking.......god she was young when she had him! That's him on the end (right).
The picture above show's all of us, when Dave acheived his 5th Dan, so we all lined up in order of grade for a laugh.....5, 4. 3, 2, 1.
Dave and myself have been to 5 World Masters and managed to come away with some medals, norman came with us to the Kodokan and partnered our friend and fellow judoka Dale, who i also partnered in the Goshin Jitsu at the Masters and managed a medel or two.
We run St Josephs Judo club in Sunderland which is very down to earth and been established for some years now, although iv'e been out of action for some time due to university work...cant wait to get back to it....september!!!!!!
I started out at the Pyrex Judo Club in South Hylton, Sunderland all those years ago with my club leader, Jackie Doubleday 2nd Dan and the Area Rep, Byron Dawson, who i always wanted to please with good judo. My insperation in Judo though was Peter Garside who was the head of our assocoation before i re entered the BJC.
It was Peter who encouraged and nurtured both Dave and myself into the study of Kata rather than just choreographing it, which later lead to the British, Internationals and the World Masters.
so, thats me in brief
